· to analyze the response to Ukrainian refugees in Polish border towns (their initial success and later complications) and its uniqueness compared to other responses to immigration influxes
· to consider the role that architecture and spatiality played in this response and how it acted as not only a temporary solution, as in many other refugee responses, but also a (re)integration force to oppose the standard binary of the topic of saviorism
· to assess the ecological layer of the local environment and how it acts as a facilitator or barrier to the political struggle
Methodology
The urban scale will look at a selection of case studies in the form of Polish border towns as a means of understanding how different forces (social, cultural, humanitarian, administrative, economic etc.) can aid in the seamless integration of individuals into their new context.
A closer look at these urban networks will aid in discerning the variety of factors that were indispensable during these difficult times. Specifically, this mapping can show the versatility of uses of certain spaces and how those were morphed during a time of need. Conversely, this analysis can highlight the players involved in the logistical undertaking of this mass movement.

The infrastructure scale, will look at the large-scale movements facilitated by the attacks and counterattacks, and how those influenced the structural dynamics of the areas under attack. Through a series of satellite imagery, the extracted photographic information will be situated in the larger network of GIS mapped data. Additionally, climate and terrain data will be layered over the aforementioned information to create a nuanced compilation of complexities. Those will be considered as the contextual basis for the conflict with the aim of exploring how factors such as environment or terrain influenced the progression of human movement (whether that is military or searching for refuge).
