Passage Through the Shadows
in collaboration with: Xindi Su + Evelyn Barter

An exploratory project developed during the 3rd year, provided a brief that expected no artificial lighting to be used throughout the single family structure. Situated along the coast of the Scottish Loch Ness, the building reflects the forest treeline and the shoreline. Rather than  focusing on creating an abundance of light, instead, it harnesses the limited lighting conditions to create importance within the passage itself. Limited lighting hereby becomes a tool for creating spatial hierarchy, guiding movement through the interior while heightening the perception of key thresholds and views toward the landscape.
